Toyota President Award:
This year we awarded two Toyota President Awards:
About the first award winner –
Once the whistle blows he is in his element. Conditioning and studying are over. He is interacting with some of the best players in the world.
He has risen in the ranks over the past 12 years and has been named Nebraska's first ever FIFA "International Referee". It represents soccer referee's highest grade. He is one of only six International Referees representing the United States.
He came to the United States from Croatia as an exchange student and played one year of soccer at Omaha North and then attended UNO. Playing soccer is what steered him towards refereeing. He started with area high school, college, amateur and youth games before moving on to regional competition. From there he went on to earn his National badge and referee professional games.
Nebraska's first ever FIFA "International Referee and the Toyota President’s Award winner – Edvin Jurisevic
About the second award winner –
This person served on the Board of Director’s for over 8 years. He was instrumental in helping to form the structure of Nebraska State Soccer. He started out as Treasurer, went to Vice President for a couple of months and then took over as President in January of 2004 after Mike Legg resigned.
He did many good things as President. Things that improved member services and helped many new programs get started. He did a lot to improve soccer in Nebraska.
Only the people that have served as a President of a State Association under stand how hard and how much time you dedicate to holding that position. It is often thankless and you are trying to keep Board members, membership and staff happy. This is not always easy.
These are the reason he has been awarded the Toyota President’s Award – Dennis Burling.

This person served on the Board for 8 years. He was District Commissioner for 6 years and Vice President for two years. During his terms on the Board we saw many changes. His ideas and vision help improve the Association.
