2015 Winners

Michael O’Dell – Gretna Soccer Club

Nominated by – team

“The main thing I feel makes my coach so special and unique is his ability to believe in us. No matter what is going on, we know we have a coach who believes in us and pushes us to be the best we can be on and off the field.  We win and lose together, and through it all he reminds us that soccer should be fun.  He constantly promotes sportsmanship, teamwork, positive self-esteem, and solid values that allow us to be successful.

Kevin Ortmeier – St. Patrick’s Soccer

Nominated by – club

Kevin Ortmeier is the perfect model of a volunteer recreational coach.  Kevin is an integral part of the entire St. Patrick’s community, coaching soccer, basketball, helping at church and at school. Kevin’s energy and positivity are apparent for anyone who has a chance to see his teams play.  He is constantly encouraging the girls to have fun and enjoy the game while working hard and he is the first one to celebrate their success.  His energy and passion for the kids are a model for all of us to follow.

Michael Beelman – Cathedral/St. Cecilia’s

Nominated by – Fellow CYSL coaches, admins, and peers

Mike has coached and helped at St. Cecelia’s for 17 years, many of those years coaching more than one team and helping other teams with their training.  Mike has been integral in creating a foundation at St. Cecelia’s that has not only produced top level players, but has created a culture in which no child is ever left out and all are welcomed. Additionally, because of Mike’s work, the St. Cecelia’s tournament has become a sustained success and the facilities continue to see upgrades.  It is our honor and privilege to nominate our friend Mike Beelman.

Patty Cassalia – Elite Girls Academy

Nominated by – Club

“Patty’s commitment and countless hours spent dedicated to administration work for EGA and for youth soccer in Nebraska has been a benefit to many.”  Patty helps on so many levels, from club to state, from school to church, and her professionalism and insight are consistently sought out by many.   Patty is an excellent example of the type of professional, outgoing, and dedicated, administrator that every club needs to be successful.

Catherine Mittlieder

Catherine is one of the top up and coming referees in the state and region.  She has already been invited and participated at regionals.  In addition to being an outstanding referee, Catherine is an excellent student and plays the game of soccer as well.  We are excited to see her develop and are proud to recognize such a great young kid for her efforts.

Andrew Scheneman

A constant student of the game and of refereeing in general, Andrew continues to excel as one of the top young referees in Nebraska.  His passion to succeed is a model for all young players and referees looking to succeed.  Andrew has a very bright future as a referee, student, and young man and we at Nebraska State Soccer are proud to recognize him.
