Nebraska State Soccer is happy to announce the creation of our Player of the Year Senior Scholarship Fund, named after a true Nebraska soccer advocate, Marty Anderson.
Marty Anderson, a former ODP Administrator for the Nebraska State Soccer Olympic Development Program and passionate soccer advocate for all players throughout Nebraska, recently passed away. In honor of her passion and commitment to the game, Nebraska State Soccer is pleased to announce her legacy will live on as the namesake of the Marty Anderson Scholarship Awards. Two awards will be given each year to selected applicants. Applicants will be current high school seniors who have demonstrated a commitment to the game, the community, and have shown a willingness to be involved in all facets of the game with the utmost character, traits and qualities that Marty modeled and advocated for.
We will be granting two (2) $1,000 scholarships to the chosen players.
All current high school seniors who have played on a Nebraska State Soccer affiliated team are encouraged to apply- playing soccer in college is not a requirement! We will be choosing the winners based on letters of recommendation and a personal essay written by the player. General Information for Nominations: This program of college tuition awards is administered by the Nebraska State Soccer Association. Scholarships are in the form of tuition awards of $1,000 and are to be used toward expenses in an accredited college, university, or community college beginning with the Fall of Freshman Year. This program is open to Nebraska residents who are participating in a bona fide soccer program and are graduating high school seniors. Applicants must have played on a NSS-affiliated team for at least 6 seasons (3 years).Applicants must have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.00.Applicants need not play college soccer to apply. All applicants receive notice of their status as soon as practicable after the selection process is completed Requirements: 1. A completed application form including responses to questions about soccer, and potential coach and referee experience. 2. A copy of nominees official high school transcript (including ACT and/or SAT scores), if applicable. 3. A personal, 1-2 page, essay addressing the question “What has soccer meant to my life?” 4. At least 2 letters of recommendation from non-related persons, at least 1 from someone in the soccer community. Letters of recommendation can be submitted with the application or emailed to Crystal at ccollins@nebraskastatesoccer.org by either the applicant or the writer of the letter. |
