NSS Partners with US Center for Mental Health & Sport

Nebraska State Soccer (NSS) is proud to announce our newest partnership with the U.S. Center for Mental Health & Sport! Mental health is an important part of our athletes’ well-being, and we want to continue to make that a main focus for our members.

The mission of the U.S. Center for Mental Health and Sport (USC-MHS) is to bring optimum mental health to sport communities. The USC-MHS is guiding sport organizations to improve mental health of their communities through their services including mental health awareness training, access to a network of mental health service providers who also have expertise in sport, and educational content on mental health through blogs and newsletters.

NSS knows that mental health awareness and training is a need for our community and wants to provide our members with the resources to help our athletes through any mental health struggles they may face.

“We love encouraging our members on the field, but their off-the-field health and safety is even more important. This partnership is a chance for us to get these important resources to our membership and provide content all year round about topics surrounding Mental Health Awareness and suicide prevention,” said Casey Mann, NSS Executive Director.

The partnership includes discounted training sessions for any NSS member club, limited free trainings for low-resource areas, mental health resource newsletter content and access to the USC-MHS Athlete Ambassador program.

“Nebraska State Soccer is taking the lead in finding new avenues to support its members both on and off the field. The U.S. Center for Mental Health & Sport is delighted to partner with NSS with its focus on prioritizing support for mental wellbeing. We look forward to bringing mental health initiatives including our ACT! Training to NSS member clubs throughout the state.”

The partnership is effective immediately. If your club is interested in hosting a training for your coaches, parents or athletes contact Crystal at [email protected] for more information.
