The Linus W. Fangman Scholarship is offered by the Eastern Nebraska Soccer Association (ENSA) in recognition of outstanding young persons who are involved in soccer within our clubs and communities. The scholarship is an annual, one-time $750.00 scholarship that will be given to two graduating high school seniors. The award is based on academic achievement, school involvement, and service to ENSA related activities. Those activities can include playing, coaching, or refereeing in the league.
ENSA will award two scholarships to graduating high school seniors based on the following criteria:
· Must be a graduating senior Class of 2023 with plans to attend a college, technical school, or other higher education institution in the Fall of 2023.
· Must have refereed, held a coaching position, or played within ENSA for a combined minimum of three years or six seasons.
· Must submit at least two (2) but not more than four (4) letters of recommendation, with at least one (1) coming from a teacher or school administrator, and one (1) from a soccer-related authority.
· Must submit a short essay with the application, of not more than 500 words on the theme, “How Soccer Has Affected My Life.”
· Must have a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or better.
*The Winner of the Russ Tice Memorial Scholarship will be ineligible for the Linus W. Fangman Scholarship
All applications are due to be postmarked by March 22, 2023. Email entries must be received by Midnight March 22, 2023.
Be sure to read and submit all forms, letters and documents requested. The Selection Committee will decide on the recipients from the list of applicants who have submitted all documents. Final selection will be made on or before April 8, 2023 with recipients being notified via Email, US mail, or phone by April 22, 2023. ENSA will announce the 2023 recipients on the NSSA website.
The scholarship will be made payable to the awardees, their parents, or to the institution where student is enrolled.
Payment shall be mailed to the awardee’s home address once proof of enrollment is submitted to ENSA. Proof of enrollment should be a schedule of classes and must be submitted no later than August 31, 2023. If proof of enrollment is not submitted by August 31, funds may be retained by ENSA and the award may be null and void. This scholarship is a one-time award and is non-renewable.
